Dr. Albaliz Tello, LCSW - Clinical Director

Dr. Albaliz (Alby) Tello is a a compassionate and culturally sensitive clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds. As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts, Dr. Tello has provided invaluable support to individuals with developmental disabilities, children, families, and those facing mental health challenges.

Dr. Tello’s professional journey includes serving as a school social worker on the Child Study Team at a middle school. She has also held positions as the Director of Career Development and an adjunct professor at the Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service. Her extensive experience spans various settings, from inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities to in-home services for children and families.
Educationally, Dr. Tello earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University, followed by a Master of Social Work from Fordham University. Additionally, she holds a doctorate in education (Ed.D) from Fordham University, specializing in addressing academic stressors, college preparation, and career/professional development. Her research has focused on the impact of social media in higher education.
Dr. Tello’s expertise lies in working with children, teenagers, and young adults. She employs a holistic approach, incorporating mindfulness, solution-focused techniques, trauma-informed care, client-centered therapy, and cognitive-behavioral interventions to facilitate individual and family healing. Her areas of specialization include anxiety, panic attacks, depression, OCD, trauma, and navigating separation or divorce. Dr. Tello embraces an affirming stance and has experience supporting individuals who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Collaboration is at the heart of Dr. Tello’s therapeutic practice. She values building a strong partnership with her clients, offering empathic understanding and unconditional positive regard. Every individual receives respect and a safe space to process their emotions. Dr. Tello guides clients to view therapy as an opportunity for curiosity and kindness, enabling them to gain insight, find meaning, and heal from their emotional burdens.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Tello prioritizes self-care by immersing herself in nature’s beauty alongside her loved ones and her furry companion. She finds joy in activities such as yoga, hiking, art, and exploring different corners of the world. Driven by her dedication as a lifelong learner, she continuously seeks unique ways to enhance the lives of others.
