Take the next steps toward starting therapy

You are in good hands the moment you reach out. Three appointments, in this order.

First

A 15-minute consultation

Our client care coordinators will speak with you to gather some information and help you decide which of our experienced therapists would be the best fit. We can answer questions about availability, rates and insurance, and anything else you need to ask. No charge.

Then

Your initial intake

Your therapist gathers your history and current concerns, and you set out your goals for therapy. This session is also your opportunity to interview your therapist and see whether their approach and personality work for you. A good fit is critical for therapy to be effective.

After that

Psychotherapy treatment

Our clinicians recommend weekly appointments until you have achieved your initial therapy goals. Sessions run about 45 to 50 minutes. Our client care team checks in on your progress as you go and adjusts if something is not working.

What your first session covers

  1. Express your goals for therapy.
  2. Give a detailed account of your history, including your current concerns.
  3. Gain an understanding of the treatment options and modalities used in therapy.
  4. Collaborate on the best plan to proceed, and whether any other services will be necessary.

You will likely meet weekly, for sessions of about 45 to 50 minutes. If we are not the right practice for what you are facing, we will tell you and point you somewhere that is.

Driving to Paramus from nearby Bergen County towns

Most clients reach the office in under fifteen minutes. Routes below are the ones our clients actually use, with a live directions link if you would rather let your phone handle it.

From Hackensack

3.5 miles · about 10 minutes

Take Main Street north to Route 4 west, then follow Route 17 north to the Century Road exit. Farview Terrace sits just east of Route 17, a few minutes off the highway. Coming from the hospital area, Essex Street to Route 17 north is usually quicker at rush hour.

From Teaneck

5.3 miles · about 14 minutes

Cedar Lane west to River Road, then north through River Edge and west on Century Road into Paramus. If you are starting closer to Route 4, take Route 4 west and pick up Route 17 north for the last stretch.

From Ridgewood

5.8 miles · about 15 minutes

South on Route 17 from the Ridgewood Avenue interchange, then exit at Century Road. Avoiding 17 is easy too: Paramus Road south to Century Road east runs past the county park and skips the retail traffic near the malls.

From Dumont

5.8 miles · about 15 minutes

West on Madison Avenue to Kinderkamack Road, south through Oradell and River Edge, then west on Century Road. This route stays on local roads the whole way, which is usually faster than cutting down to Route 4.

When you arrive. Turn into the lot at 15 Farview Terrace and park anywhere on site, no meter or permit needed. Suite 1 is on the ground floor. For a first appointment, come five minutes early. If you are running late or cannot find the entrance, call (551) 579-4441 and someone will pick up.

If you are in crisis right now, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day. In an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. Our office is not a crisis service and messages are returned during business hours.
